The Fervent Prayer Oil Painting
By Margaret Lukasik
The Fervent Prayer
“The Fervent Prayer” depicts a young woman immersed in a moment of profound prayer. The scene is set within a soft pastel background rather than a dimly lit room, creating a sense of joy and peace, and casting a sense of calm over the woman’s face. The atmosphere is hushed and reverent, evoking a sense of quiet contemplation and spiritual connection.
The woman’s hands clasped in front of her chest, her eyes closed in deep concentration, give the sense of inner trust and knowing that the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces great results according to James 5:16. This is one of my favorite verses, so I wanted to represent on canvas.
I gave her an expression of intense focus and devotion, appearing strong and confident in her trust and faith in God. It is at this place within the heart or spirit that our prayers are fulfilled.
The Act Of Prayer
I wanted this painting to symbolize the act of prayer as a pathway to answered prayers and divine intervention. The woman praying conveys a sense of surrender and trust, as if she is laying her deepest desires and fears at the feet of God in Christ. I also wanted to capture the transformative power of prayer, illustrating how taking the time to connect spiritually can bring peace, clarity, and solace in general, and in times of need.
I invite you to share in the woman’s sacred moment of communion with the divine as a reminder to remain connected to God. The “Fervent Prayer” is almost complete. Once I have completed the hands and hair, it will be ready for a coat of varnish and then given a few weeks to dry. This painting is 12″ x 16.” The left is not revealed because I am adding a special touch of subtle beauty to extend the idea of peace. I’ll post the changes here for purchase. -Margaret Lukasik
